Great River Regional Waste Authority is a public sector agency serving the waste management needs of Lee County, Van Buren county and Rural Henry county.  Operations include:

Sanitary Landfill - located across from the Rodeo Arena in Fort Madison. This is the main facility where solid waste is received daily. Administrative offices are also located at the main facility.

Recycling Center - located at the main facility in Fort Madison. Recyclables may be dropped off 24 hours a day. Recyclables are then sorted, baled and shipped to numerous markets throughout the United States.

Composting of leaves and small twigs are processed at the main facility in Fort Madison also.

Great River Regional Waste Authority also has a transfer station & recycling drop off center located in Keokuk, IA.  Solid waste is accepted at this site and then loaded onto trucks daily and transported to Fort Madison for disposal in the landfill.  Recyclables are only accepted at this location during regular business hours.
